Houston residents who volunteer at the Houston Food Bank on November 12 will receive free entry to a custom car festival on November 22. The event pairs community service with cultural entertainment, allowing participants to contribute to local hunger relief while securing a spot at a major city event.
The volunteer shift runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2026. During this three-hour period, participants will work inside the Houston Food Bank warehouse. Their tasks include sorting, preparing, and packaging donated items for distribution to families and neighbors across the community.
In exchange for their labor, each volunteer receives one ticket to Big Slim’s King of Cars Custom Car Show & Culture Fest. This festival is scheduled for Sunday, November 22, at Reliant Park. The event celebrates Houston’s car culture, music, and community, serving as a reward for the service provided to the food bank.
Big Slim, who is using his platform to support Houston, will make a special appearance at the food bank. He aims to make a positive impact beyond music by joining the volunteers. The initiative is organized in partnership with 97.9 The Box.
Volunteer spots are limited, and advance registration is required for everyone wishing to participate. Walk-ins will not be accepted for this special shift. Interested individuals can secure a spot by registering on the Houston Food Bank’s Serve With Slim registration page.
