The Los Angeles Clippers are searching for a stop to a seven-game losing streak as star forward Brandon Ingram works toward a return from the injury sideline. Ingram, who is in his first season with the team, is not expected to play Sunday against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Intuit Dome, but officials indicated he could be on the roster sometime this month.

His timeline depends on his ability to handle full-contact 5-on-5 action. Ingram is currently performing light practice drills and moving from 3-on-3 work to larger group settings. He stated that while his body feels good, he needs to regain comfort with jumping and cutting before he is fully ready.

The forward’s absence stems from a diagnosis made in April. Doctors initially suspected a heel spur, but surgery revealed a partially torn Achilles tendon. That finding extended his rehabilitation from a few weeks to a period spanning spring, summer, and early fall. He was traded from the Toronto Raptors to Los Angeles as part of the deal involving Kawhi Leonard.

Ingram said he will return when he feels prepared, rather than adhering to a strict calendar date. He acknowledged the frustration of watching the team drop winnable games in the final minutes. For the past two weeks, he has observed his new teammates struggle on the offensive end while maintaining strong defensive play.

He believes his presence will simplify the team's scoring options. Ingram plans to utilize his midrange shooting and physicality to create easier catch-and-shoot opportunities for his teammates. He described his style as combining length with traditional footwork, including a signature fadeaway.

Last season, the 21.5 points per game average came with 47.7% shooting, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists over 77 appearances. Ingram said he is 100% healthy, but noted that building confidence in his surgically repaired leg requires time on the court.

He emphasized the need to balance the desire to help the team with the necessity of proper recovery. Ingram said he wants to be selfish for the team's benefit while ensuring he is ready to play at full intensity once he takes the floor.
