Nicole Taylor, the lead vocalist of the country trio Taylor Red, has died at the age of 35. Her triplet sisters, Nika Taylor and Natalie Taylor, confirmed the news in a video posted to the group's official channels on Monday.
The sisters stated that Nicole died on Sept. 28, 2026. A private funeral service was held by the family in the days following her death. Nicole was one of three sisters who formed the band, which began performing under the name Red Roots in 2010.
Nicole was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2022. Her sisters described her response to the illness as fearless. Nika Taylor noted that Nicole maintained an active lifestyle during her treatment, including performing CrossFit exercises while undergoing chemotherapy.
Medical reports indicated that Nicole initially responded well to chemotherapy. Doctors declared her evidence without disease for a period. However, Nika Taylor said Nicole received a more serious diagnosis approximately nine months into her treatment.
After asking doctors for her prognosis, Nicole was told she had about three months to live. If her treatments were successful, medical staff could not predict how much longer she would have. Despite this timeline, Nicole lived for another year. Natalie Taylor said her sister remained hopeful, traveled, and worked hard to enjoy life.
The trio signed a record deal with Inpop Records in 2015. They subsequently changed their name to Taylor Red. The group released the track "Country Money" in 2021. Prior to that, they had released three studio albums: their self-titled debut in 2011, The Middle of Nowhere in 2012, and Triplicity in 2014.
In the video, Nika Taylor said the sisters were still shocked by the outcome. She added that the family knows Nicole is not suffering anymore. Natalie Taylor recalled that when Nicole heard the three-month prognosis, she replied, "Everybody's gonna face judgment, and I'm ready to."
