Apple released version 27.2 for its operating systems on Sunday. The update covers iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The primary focus is on changes to the Siri artificial intelligence assistant.

The update adds a memory function to Siri. This allows the assistant to recall past conversations and reference them during new interactions. Siri can now access voicemails and message attachments when generating responses. The company states that Siri AI is now available in five additional languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The feature remains unavailable in Europe and mainland China.

Users gain a new control labeled Excluded Apps. This option allows them to choose which applications Siri, Search, and system suggestions can access. Other iOS changes include context-aware suggestions in Messages. The system can convert an invitation message into a calendar entry. Photos now support SynthID watermarking, and the Apple TV app supports user profiles.

The release also updates the Apple Music branding and adds support for the Apple Pencil on the iPhone Duo foldable. macOS Golden Gate 27.2 includes the same Siri memory features and language expansions. The update includes unspecified bug fixes. The visionOS update brings the new languages and the updated Music icon.

References to new gesture recognition capabilities appear in the macOS beta notes. These references are in applications such as Photos, Notes, and Safari. The additions may relate to touch support for the next MacBook Pro refresh. Apple has a scheduled public briefing for Wednesday. The iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the first devices listed for the Siri AI features.

Apple provided specific update notes for iOS and macOS. The notes detail the availability of Siri AI features across specific hardware models. The company did not provide a timeline for when the gesture recognition features will become fully available to users.
