The Miami Hurricanes lost their first match in over one month on Sunday evening at home against the No. 22 ranked Florida State Seminoles.

Florida State dominated possession and shot volume throughout the contest. The visitors recorded 10 total shots with six finding the target, while Miami managed only one shot and zero shots on goal. The Seminoles also outmuscled the Canes in the aerial department, earning nine corner kicks compared to Miami's two. These numbers reflect the control Florida State exercised from the opening whistle.

The first goal arrived in the third minute of play. Midfielder Joelle Jung delivered a cross from outside the box to Nawreen Ahmad. Ahmad flicked the ball into the net to establish an early 1-0 lead for the visitors. Miami goalkeeper Atlee Olofson prevented the deficit from growing further in the first half by making two saves. She finished the match with four total saves.

The balance of the game shifted in the 53rd minute when freshman Maddie Sadusky received a red card for a challenge on a Florida State defender. Miami played the final 37 minutes with ten players. Florida State capitalized on the numerical advantage late in the game. Shaneil Buckley delivered a cross from the left side into the 18-yard box in the 72nd minute. Wrianna Hudson met the ball with her right foot and placed the shot into the bottom-left corner to secure the 2-0 victory.

The loss ended Miami's five-game unbeaten streak. The Canes now hold a 10-4-3 overall record and a 4-3-2 mark in ACC play. Florida State improved to 9-2-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the conference. The result moved the Seminoles to fourth place in the ACC standings.

Miami will attempt to close the regular season with a win on Thursday, Nov. 5. The Canes will travel to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the broadcast will air on ACCNX. This match serves as the final regular season game before the ACC tournament begins.
