Miller Takes Over as White House Chief of Staff After Three Days

Stephen Miller will become the new White House chief of staff on Monday.

President Donald Trump announced the change on Friday. The move occurs three days after Democrats secured majority control of both the House and the Senate. This shift alters the political dynamics for the remainder of the president's term.

Miller previously served as the deputy chief of staff. He helped design the administration's mass deportation policies. Democrats in Congress have pledged to investigate those immigration efforts. Wiles, who led the 2024 campaign, will move to the Trump Political Operation.

Trump described Miller as one of his most trusted advisors in a Truth Social post. He later told reporters that he simply wanted to make a change. The president noted that Miller has performed well and that moves are sometimes necessary in life.

Wiles resigned on Thursday night. A senior White House source told MS NOW that she informed the president, who was reportedly angry over the election losses, that she would step down to make the process easier. Wiles confirmed her departure on X on Friday afternoon. She stated that serving the president was the honor of a lifetime and that her commitment to the mission remains unchanged.

The change follows a series of departures from the Department of Justice. Civil Harmeet Dhillon, John Eisenberg, and Jason Reding Quiñones have all left their senior roles since Election Day. Wiles had maintained a low profile during the administration but drew attention in late 2025 after reports emerged regarding comments she made about the president.

The official X account for the Trump Political Operation posted a black and white photo of Miller with the caption that it is Miller time.
