The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field. The victory improved Dallas to a 3-4 record and moved the team into second place in the NFC East. They now sit behind the New York Giants, who hold a 4-2-1 record.
Javonte Williams led the Cowboys with a career-best 155 rushing yards. He also scored his eighth rushing touchdown of the season, tying him for the lead in the National Football League. The Cowboys rushed for a total of 204 yards, their best performance of the season. Their offense scored 38 points, a sharp contrast to the 29 points they managed in their previous two games combined.
Dak Prescott completed 15 of 27 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns. He connected with CeeDee Lamb for two scores and George Pickens for one. The Eagles defense pressured Prescott on only 15% of his dropbacks through the first three quarters. This allowed Prescott to extend his record against Philadelphia, where he has now recorded nine games with multiple passing touchdowns.
The Eagles dropped their fifth straight game. Their defense allowed 416 total yards and gave up 35 points on the first drive of the game. That opening-drive total is the second highest in the league this season. Philadelphia has allowed a touchdown on its opponent's first possession in four consecutive games.
Saquon Barkley played through a hamstring issue and finished with six carries for 62 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for nine yards. The Eagles announced in the fourth quarter that Barkley would be questionable for a back injury. He did not return to the field. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee completed 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown.
The Eagles scored 10 points in the first quarter, a season high. That was the third time since last season that Philadelphia scored touchdowns on its first two drives. All three instances occurred against the Cowboys. The Eagles will play at the Washington Commanders next week. The Cowboys host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
