Xreal and Google lowered the cost of the Aura headset to $1,099 on October 28, 2026. This price applies to units sold through the end of the year. The new figure is $180 lower than the $1,279 tag that Xreal charged for preorders last month.

The device weighs 95 grams and combines transparent lenses with a tethered Android XR compute puck. It offers a 70-degree diagonal field of view. The hardware supports multiple virtual screens and allows users to connect external devices via USB-C.

The price adjustment may stem from market competition. At the original $1,279 price point, the Aura would have competed directly with Meta's VR Glasses. The lower price aims to make the new product more attractive against that established rival.

Purchasing has become straightforward for residents of launch countries. In the US, Canada, and South Korea, a model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is available for $1,099. A higher-spec version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs $1,299. Japan begins sales on November 2, with wider global availability planned for next year.

Xreal general manager Ralph Jodice stated that the company will automatically refund the difference to customers who already paid the higher preorder price. No manual action is required from those buyers to receive the credit.

The headset launches with over 150 XR experiences. These include immersive films such as Andy Serkis' Nevatars and Galapagos: the Last Eden. Users can ask the Gemini AI assistant about their surroundings and view a spatial gallery of Google Photos.

Accessories include a wireless gamepad from GameSir featuring a dedicated Gemini key and swappable D-pads. Xreal also announced a folding portable wireless keyboard. Pricing and release dates for these items are not yet public. Aura units are expected to begin shipping in mid-November.
