The Milwaukee Brewers won their first World Series title on Wednesday, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays. The victory ends the regular and postseason competition for the 2026 season and starts the offseason period immediately.

The team's success is linked to former owner and commissioner emeritus Bud Selig, whose statue stands outside American Family Field. Colton Gordon, a former player for Team Israel, made one appearance for Milwaukee this season. That single game made him eligible for a championship ring, and he was present in the dugout for the final game.

The offseason schedule includes awards ceremonies and free agency negotiations. These events will occur before a potential work stoppage. The current collective bargaining agreement expires at midnight on December 1. If the parties do not reach a new deal by then, a lockout begins.

Alex Bregman of the Chicago Cubs is a finalist for the National League Gold Glove Award at third base. He won the American League version of the award with Houston in 2024. Max Fried, a four-time winner, did not make the cut this year. Bregman is also a candidate for the National League Silver Slugger Award. The 32-year-old hit 19 home runs and recorded 52 RBIs after the All-Star break.

Joc Pederson of the Texas Rangers is a candidate for American League Comeback Player of the Year. After a weak 2025 season, Pederson hit 26 home runs in 2026. His slugging plus on-base average reached .816. The Rangers and Pederson hold a mutual option for 18.5 million dollars. If either side declines the option, he becomes a free agent. Rowdy Tellez is also a free agent after spending most of 2026 in Triple-A.

In other sports news, the St. Louis Blues condemned signs displayed at a game last week. The signs read "Israel Kills" and "Free America from Israel." Owner Tom Stillman called the signs "vile messages of hate." The fans holding the signs were ejected from the arena.

Liel Abada scored three goals in 18 minutes on Wednesday. His efforts helped Charlotte FC win 4-0 and secure a playoff spot. Idan Toklomati assisted on Abada's second goal. Abada described his teammate as a great player with whom he shares a strong connection on and off the field.

The schedule for this weekend includes Jack and Luke Hughes playing for the New Jersey Devils against the Vegas Golden Knights. In soccer, Abada and Toklomati will play again as Charlotte hosts Orlando. In golf, Max Homa and Max Greyserman are competing in the Mexico Championship.
