Broadway Divas will premiere its ninth production, Viva Las Divas, on Nov. 13 and 14 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. The Las Vegas-themed revue marks a departure from the musical and movie parodies that have defined the company's previous eight shows. Tickets for the 7 p.m. performances start at $34 and are available at scfta.org.
The company, Voyance Productions LLC, was founded by Huntington Beach native Miss Clair Voyance. She began performing at the Segerstrom Center in 2020 during an outdoor screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. That initial appearance led to the creation of Broadway Divas, a full-length drag cabaret show paired with brunch service.
Voyance described the new production as the largest in the company's history. "The costumes are bigger and the stakes are higher," she said. The show draws inspiration from legendary Las Vegas performers, showgirls, and the glamour of the Strip. The cast features Voyance alongside April Showers, Dolly Levi, Big Deelish, Mama St. Merman, Leeko Rae, Thai Teaze, Mariah Carey Carrie, and Emmy Award-winner Glen Alen.
Alen is billed as the world's best Bette Midler impersonator, according to Voyance. The production also includes numbers in the style of Lady Gaga, Cher, Celine Dion, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, and Michael Jackson. Voyance said the decision to pivot to a Las Vegas concept came from a desire to try something new after eight successful iterations of the original format.
Voyance Productions has expanded its operations beyond the Segerstrom Center. This summer, the ensemble performed Haus of Mayhem, a drag parody inspired by Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball, at the House of Blues in Anaheim. That production became the company's highest-grossing show to date. The group plans to continue its partnership with the House of Blues with Haus of Plastic, a musical drag parody of Mean Girls, in early spring.
The company is also preparing to bring Haus of Mayhem to San Diego and Los Angeles. In addition to these touring dates, Voyance will continue to perform her Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute at the Segerstrom Center. Last year, approximately 1,000 attendees gathered for the outdoor screening, with lines forming at 3 p.m. for the 7 p.m. start time.
Voyance credited the support of the Orange County community for the company's growth. She noted that the area is often regarded as conservative, making the local reception of drag culture particularly meaningful to her. "People are being brought into our space, having a moment of connection with us and then leaving with a different thought," she said.
The performer attended the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts and holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theater. She attributes her creative development to the people in her hometown. "My creativity and my theatricality was born here in Huntington Beach," she said.
The next Broadway Divas show is scheduled for spring 2027 at the Segerstrom Center. Voyance said the company aims to make the tenth production its largest yet, with a theme celebrating a decade of performances. The company maintains a regular presence in Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Inland Empire, while keeping the Segerstrom Center as its primary venue in Orange County.
