Colorado men's basketball head coach Tad Boyle has restructured his roster following the departure of three of his four leading scorers from the previous season. The program lost guard Isaiah Johnson, forward Bangot Dak, and forward Sebastian Rancik to other schools. Johnson, who transferred to Texas, set the school record for single-season points by a freshman with 540. Dak moved to Vanderbilt, while Rancik chose Florida State.

Boyle is turning to guard Barrington Hargress to fill the scoring void. Hargress led the Big 12 in assist-to-turnover ratio last season with a 3.6 mark. He also shot 48.1% from three-point range. The coaching staff expects him to carry a heavier load in the offensive production for the Buffaloes this year.

Three sophomores are positioned to step into larger roles. Jalin Holland recorded 24 steals last season, ranking fourth on the team. Ian Inman made 22 three-pointers, also placing fourth in that category. Josiah Sanders appeared in all 33 games for the squad and served as its second-leading offensive rebounder.

The team added new talent to offset the losses. Colorado signed Justin Neely, a 6-foot-6 forward who averaged 11.5 rebounds per game for UNC Greensboro. The staff also brought in Noah Fedderson, a center from North Dakota State. Fedderson earned Summit League sixth man of the year honors last season. Alon Michaeli left the roster to transfer to Saint Louis.

The Buffaloes face a demanding schedule early in the 2026-2027 season. They will open the Bill Walton Classic on Nov. 7 with a game against San Diego State in San Diego. On Nov. 24, Colorado plays Stanford in Palm Desert, California, as part of the Acrisure Series. The next day, they face either Grand Canyon or Saint Louis.

Additional high-profile matchups include a game against Purdue in the Indy Classic on Dec. 19. The team also plays rival Colorado State on Dec. 5. Boyle holds 329 victories at Colorado, the most for any men's head coach in school history. He has guided the team to at least 20 wins in 10 of the school's 14 such seasons.

The Buffaloes finished the previous campaign with a 17-16 overall record and a 7-11 mark in Big 12 play. They began that season with an 8-0 start before falling 91-86 to Colorado State on Dec. 6. The team struggled in the final month, going 2-6 in January.
